One of the things I decided not too long ago is to stop chasing the “best practices” for everything.
Of course I want to do things the best, right way, but I’m so full of that, I’m near capacity.
Sometimes it feels that in my search for inspiration and “best practices”, I’m stifling my own creativity. You don’t innovate by following the rules or being content with how things are done currently.
Sometimes that search becomes equal with the doing.
You count it in your productivity bucket. The problem is, you’re not getting anything done.
That’s called Shiny Object Syndrome and it distracts you from true accomplishment.
If that’s not enough to squelch all your great ideas, SOS’s backup plan is Imposter Syndrome.
So what if all 8 billion people in the world are doing the same thing. They are not you. There is ALWAYS room at the table for you and your particular brand of magic…IF it’s survived.
The reason we exist as humans and individuals, is because we all have specific gifts to offer each other.
Your purpose in life is to find out what that is and share it!
You can render that as spiritual as you want to take it. It’s true regardless of your religion or lack thereof.
Even if you can only do part of it because you haven’t figured it all out yet, do that!
The bottom line is don’t let circumstance rob you of your style and your purpose.
Turn off the Internet, clear you head, grab your blank slate, and CREATE!
(Can I stop pointing at myself yet?)
