Now, I’m sure you young kids are going, “Who are Laverne and Shirley. Like we don’t care about your friends we don’t even know.”
Oh, but they’re about to be your friends you don’t even know.
Of all the shows to be syndicated and reran into the ground, I’m not sure why this one was never chosen. It’s certainly a disservice to humanity.
Not since Lucy and Ethel, have two women managed to end up in so many crazy shenanigans.
My household invested in like the first 7 seasons on DVD, oh, I think it was maybe 2018-ish…I’m not sure.
Symptoms
All I know is that it was about this same time of year and I was feelin’ low. I’ve suffered with depression since I was probably 17, so it wasn’t like I didn’t know what was up.
I didn’t know there was a legit cause or anything I could do for it short of antidepressants, and I don’t like taking meds.
I either had just learned or was about to learn of Seasonal Affective Disorder. This is something we experience during Fall and Winter when we’re not out in the sunshine as much. Our bodies become deficient in Vitamin D and we have trouble controlling our moods. (Source)
Treatment
We proceeded to binge Laverne and Shirley every evening, and I noticed that I felt better mood-wise. I wasn’t depressed and mopey. I felt pretty good.
The nightly dose of whimsy and laughter was having an affect.
I slept better. I went to sleep easier. Everything was just…better.
Finally, I had a name for my experience and I had 2 natural remedies to treat it.
Besides regular doses of laughter, I take a daily Vitamin D supplement.
If I skip a couple of days in a row, I am noticeably more depressed.
Frequent doses of laughter will also help and enhance any other treatments you’re using, so if you don’t know who Laverne and Shirley are, find out.
If you don’t like them, find what makes you laugh out loud and take it in frequently!
